Meet William Weil

William Weil is a music producer/composer, audio engineer, performer, recording musician, and songwriter based in LA.

William was raised in a small town in Connecticut but always dreamed of collaborating with other creatives in a more diverse and metropolitan area. His musical talent emerged from a young age when he began to learn instruments at an accelerated rate. From the time he was old enough to hold a pair of drum sticks, he was playing on any surface he could find. He learned basic guitar skills from his parents and quickly surpassed the knowledge that they could give him. He also gained his first production experience by recording and arranging loops in GarageBand on his old household iMac.

As a young teenager, William already knew that music was what he wanted to do in life. In middle school, he played trombone in the concert band while also playing drum set in the jazz band. He won multiple awards in local school jazz band competitions, such as Best Drummer and Best Rhythm Section. Outside of school, he would regularly lead jam sessions and work to expand his knowledge of new musical genres. Towards the end of middle school, William upgraded from GarageBand to Logic Pro in order to strengthen his skills in music production and engineering.

During high school, William's time was completely filled with various opportunities for musical development. His school offered classes in music technology where he expanded his music production and engineering skills. He chose to diversify his knowledge in percussion through private instruction and learned new techniques for classical instruments such as timpani, marimba, and snare drum. These new skills allowed him to access more musical opportunities and helped earn his spot as the 1st Chair Percussionist for the CT All-State Orchestra. William also continued private instruction for drum set and secured his spot as the drummer for the CT All-State Jazz Band. His school hosted annual music showcases where he accompanied many fellow students on guitar and drums for their performances. He served as the drummer for his school's show choir band, where he won multiple awards for Best Drummer and Best Rhythm Section at local show choir competitions. William's school jazz band also competed at the Berklee High School Jazz Competition where he earned the award of Outstanding Musician. Outside of school and competitions, William continued to broaden his musical experiences with private instruction for both piano and voice. During the summer, he would attend Litchfield Jazz Camp and studied with accomplished musicians, such as Don Braden, Richie Barshay, and Steve Johns.

When it came time to choose a college, William was determined to make the best choice to continue developing his musical talents. He was accepted into the prestigious Berklee College of Music and began classes in the fall of 2016. William became intensely involved in his classes, extracurriculars, and professional development during this time. He chose to major in Contemporary Writing & Production to excel his skills as both an arranger and composer, as well as producer and engineer. Berklee's core curriculum gave William an advanced education in harmony analysis, ear training recognition, and performance skills. His specialized major gave him experience with many different facets of writing and production, such as big band arranging, orchestral composing, commercial writing, creative production techniques, and recording & mixing skills. He also continued with private instruction and studied under the accomplished Kenwood Dennard, who has worked with iconic artists, such as Miles Davis, Quincy Jones, Marcus Miller, and Sting. Outside of classes, William got involved in as many projects as possible. He worked as a member of Berklee's Stage Crew and gained valuable knowledge in the field of concert production and live sound mixing. He served as the Treasurer for the Berklee Marching Percussion Club and performed under the direction of Tia Fuller, who is a member of Beyonce's all-female touring band. William continued developing his classical percussion skills and was the 1st Chair Percussionist for the Berklee Neapolitan Orchestra. He would also regularly play with fellow students and local musicians of varying genres in bars and clubs around Boston.

In May 2020, William graduated from Berklee and a few months later he decided to make the big move to Los Angeles. Although most music venues and studios were shut down when he arrived, he still continued to develop his production, engineering, and performance skills from home. He worked with independent artists as a producer and began songwriting for publishing companies, as well as regularly rehearsing with local bands to prepare for the industry reopening. When venues and studios did finally reopen, he was prepared to make the most of it. Since then, William has performed in a professional setting at many venues around LA including The Mint, Paper Tiger, and the iconic Viper Room in Hollywood. He was recruited by the creative music agency, Blaze Unlimited LLC, to work as a producer/songwriter and is also currently working with SongFinch, a company that employs producers and songwriters to create personalized songs for clients' special occasions. He has also worked in commercial music and produced the hold music for a large company in CT, while also serving as the voiceover artist.

William is continuing to develop his professional music skills and strengthening his relationships in the music industry. He is currently working on both personal and professional projects and is always open to collaborating with inspired artists.
